The move represents a bold commitment to engage the public directly and create a more dynamic and central hub for art lovers and collectors
NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Cavalier Galleries, a fixture in the art world for 40 years, is ushering in a new chapter this September with the opening of its Midtown flagship at 3 West 57th Street, 4th floor. The move marks a strategic relocation from Chelsea to one of Manhattan’s most prestigious corridors, long regarded as the historic heart of American art and a global destination for cultural institutions.
With locations in New York, NY, Nantucket, MA, Palm Beach, FL, and Greenwich, CT, Cavalier is expanding its footprint at a time when many galleries are contracting, marking a significant investment in its mission of supporting the arts. By moving to midtown, Cavalier Galleries aims to serve a new, broader audience beyond the traditional gallery-goer. The gallery’s eclectic presentation, featuring paintings, sculpture, and photography in a range of styles, is designed to create a welcoming environment for a wide spectrum of artistic tastes.
This mission extends beyond the gallery walls. Cavalier is presenting work in new ways by integrating art into the urban fabric of New York City. From Jim Rennert’s bronze figures on Sixth Avenue to Bjorn Okholm Skaarup’s beloved Hippo Ballerina at Fordham Lincoln Center, the gallery is drawing everyday New Yorkers into the art experience before they even step inside the 57th Street exhibition space. This public-facing initiative makes art accessible to everyone and draws new audiences into the art conversation.
“Our move to 57th Street is both a nod to history and a step toward the future,” said Ron Cavalier, President of Cavalier Galleries. “This neighborhood has historically been the epicenter of American art, and we’re proud to help carry that legacy forward while creating a more dynamic, accessible hub for today’s collectors and art lovers.”
The gallery will debut the new space on Wednesday, September 17 with an opening reception from 5:00–7:00 pm. The inaugural exhibition features works by seminal 20th-century artists such as Diego Rivera, Hans Hofmann, and Fernand Léger in dialogue with works by leading contemporary artists including photojournalist Steve McCurry, painter Paul G. Oxborough, and sculptor Jane DeDecker. Highlights include Adam Umbach‘s bold, color-saturated works that explore nostalgia and American iconography; Mark S. Kornbluth’s stirring portraits of Broadway theaters; and John Terelak’s timeless impressionist paintings.
The new flagship will welcome visitors at 3 West 57th Street, 4th Floor, in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.
