Adopt a Fox
Remember when your loved one was out of the country and you felt alone? We have
Purple Foxes
and their families that now are experiencing the same thing. Of course they have
support systems, like friends or family, but that can not always replace an experienced ear that
knows exactly what they are dealing with. When you Adopt A Fox you can make a difference!

Note: Please view our Qualifications before you ask for a name.

If you wish to write a Marine out of the country we suggest contacting AnyServiceMember.org

Here are some of things you can do when you adopt an
active duty Purple Fox and family.

Having someone that supports their Purple Fox as much as they do is important!
You can periodically contact his/her spouse, mom or dad through e-mail or phone to
see if they need anything.

Most family members do not know where to begin to find the answers they need on
military issues. We have a wealth of information through our association with
HMM-364.org and PopASmoke.com. You can find the answers fast!

Love the web? Some families do not have access to the Internet or if they do it is
difficult to find a reliable source. Our members today, search out all media groups to find photos and news that covers the HMM-364 Squadron or other Marine Airwing groups. Many eyes looking out for information on the Purple Foxes is much better than none!

Out of country, the Purple Fox misses special occasions for family members. You can send a card or e-mail that reminds them that entire squadron of Foxy Ladies are thinking about them.

Correspond with the Purple Fox providing updates on sporting events, news or just a hello. Letters are always appreciated by our Foxes!

Send small care packages with special treats for your Fox.

The ways you can make a difference is unlimited! Your participation in Adopt a Fox honors the
HMM-364 Purple Fox
heritage and gives a little peace of mind to family members left behind.
And don't worry if you think you don't know actually what to do, the Foxy Ladies will guide you
every step of the way!

Gail and husband Frank, webmaster of HMM-364.org, has been adopting Foxes for years.
Their combined experience will ease you into this exciting program like
a true Foxy Lady.

Between the years of 1965-1971, HMM-364 Purple Foxes lost 62 lives. Since over 58,148 casualties occurred, this number seems to be very unimportant statistically, but for us at Foxy Ladies Society and HMM-364.org, it is as large as a mountain.

Since 1998, Frank Gulledge*, Webmaster of HMM-364.org, has maintained one of the best
individual unit websites on the Internet. Serving with the Purple Foxes in Vietnam, '68-'70,
Frank's, tireless effort has required numerous trips to get information. Washington DC to verify
HMM-364 history; Quantico Va. for awards citations verification, not to mention the many trips to interview individual Purple Foxes, all as a labor of dedication and love of the unit.

In 2003, the Foxy Ladies Society was founded as a sister organization to the Vietnam Purple Foxes to provide family members a place to honor the men and women of HMM-364 and increase public awareness of Fox service in the military. Doing research member Jeannie Harrell revealed many Vietnam Foxes did not have any remembrances posted on the numerous sites available. This distressing revelation was compounded when member Stephanie Hanson uncovered that many stories of our Vietnam fallen Foxes had rarely been told. We all agreed that no Purple Fox would go unnoticed or remembered. But where would we begin?

We began by searching to find the best memorial site. There are many sites that honor the men of Vietnam but we found most of them too impersonal or difficult to maneuver. More frustrating was the constraint of searching through over 50,000 names. After all, we were searching for a small percentage of the total lost in Vietnam, HMM-364. We dreamed of a place where we could easily find a name and that would be viewed by large numbers of people, especially family members.

That's when we stumbled on The Virtual Wall

Founded in 1997 by Vietnam veteran Jim Schueckler, The Virtual Wall has worked untiringly creating a place of honor for Vietnam lost, regardless of what branch they served. Stephanie decided to contact Jim and current president and Webmaster, Ken Davis, to ask if they would be interested in dedicating a portion of their site to HMM-364. They enthusiastically embraced the project and Ken spent untold hours creating individual memorial pages for all 62 Foxes lost. This was no easy task as information had to be compiled from Vietnam databases, the HMM-364.org history, and the PopASmoke.com casualty database. Thanks to The Vitual Wall, HMM-364 Vietnam men now can be easily accessed and remembered.

Ever needed a friend? We all experience times of sorrow and it is during those times that a kind word or memory can lift us up - especially from one that understands what it is like to support a Marine. That's why we are establishing the "Fox Friends Network", a group of women that volunteer to make a phone call, send a card, or write an email to family members that need to hear, at this time in their lives, that their Fox is and will be remembered and they too remain part of our Fox Family.

The Foxy Ladies Society was founded to share, remember and more importantly to support not only those in uniform but you that waited for the letters, his return or listen to the stories that he shared.

Could you spend 10 minutes out of your life to lighten sorrow? If so, contact the Foxy Ladies to be put on our Fox Friends Network List.

Want to Volunteer? Here are some things we will need first!

Your e-mail address (don't worry, we don't give these addresses out).
or
Your telephone number.
or
Your address.

Your name will put on our list and whenever we learn of a need you will be notified. It will be up to you how you want to reach out.

Help us help the families that so deserve to be honored.
